Shopee Taiwan Local Stores to Raise Next-Day Delivery Activation Rate Threshold

Starting April 7, 2026, Shopee Taiwan will increase the activation rate threshold for "Next-Day Delivery" items under its Preferred Seller standards to ≥50%. Sellers must meet this requirement between March 31 and April 6. The platform has also established a grace period from April 7 to May 31, during which the late shipment rate threshold is relaxed to <20%, and related late shipment penalty points can be applied for exemption. The original rules will resume on June 1, requiring a late shipment rate of <5% and a next-day delivery late shipment rate of <10%. This adjustment pushes sellers to improve logistics efficiency and service quality, which is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge in the local market.

Thai Cargo Ship Attacked in Strait of Hormuz, 20 Crew Rescued

The Thai dry bulk carrier "Mayuree Naree" caught fire after being attacked by an airstrike while transiting the Strait of Hormuz early Wednesday, following its departure from Khalifa Port, UAE. The Omani Navy has rescued 20 of the 23 crew members and continues searching for the remaining three. The 30,000-ton vessel suffered a major fire at its stern while passing through the strategic waterway. Upon receiving the news via international military channels, the Thai Navy Operations Center coordinated with the Omani Navy and the Thai embassy in Oman for rescue efforts. The rescued crew have been transferred to safety in Oman. The cause of the attack is under investigation. This incident highlights the persistent geopolitical risks in key global shipping lanes, which can disrupt logistics and supply chains for cross-border trade.

This move is expected to provide substantial benefits to companies like Apple, Samsung, and their supply chain partners. According to insiders, the policy aims to further strengthen the "Make in India" strategy through economic incentives, focusing on enhancing the localization level and international competitiveness of the mobile phone industry chain. For businesses operating in or sourcing from India, this signals a continued shift towards local production requirements and potential changes in the supply chain landscape.
