Policy Update: Intellectual Property & Beauty Category Regulations

Staying compliant is crucial for long-term success. Here are the key policy points for Shopee sellers this week.

  • Stricter Enforcement on Copyright Infringement: The platform is actively removing products that violate intellectual property rights. Sellers will receive a notification and typically have 1-2 days to either provide proof of authorization or delete the infringing product. Failure to act will result in the product being removed with the reason code "Hàng vi phạm quyền sở hữu trí tuệ" (Intellectual Property Violation).
    • Important Penalty: Having 2 SKUs removed for copyright infringement will result in a 1-point penalty on your seller account.
  • Relaxed Rules for Health & Beauty: Since November 29, 2021, sellers do not need to submit any certificates to list products in the Health & Beauty category in Vietnam. This includes items like contact lenses, dental care, perfume, personal care, and cosmetic chemicals (gels, glues, nail polish remover). Home cleaning and baby care products are also included.
    • Key Sub-categories to Focus On: Eyes makeup, Facial makeup, Lipstick & Lips care, and Skincare. For Skincare, consider prioritizing listings for face masks, sunscreen, and facial cleansers.
