Malaysia Palm Oil Exports at 427,255 Tons in First 10 Days of June

Data shows Malaysia's palm oil exports totaled 427,255 tons between June 1-10, 2026, though figures vary by surveyor. AmSpec recorded 376,971 tons for the same period, representing a 4.87% increase compared to May's first 10 days. MPOB previously reported May full-month exports at 1.106 million tons, down 14.5% month-on-month, pressured by competitively priced Indonesian supply. Indonesia has centralized export control through state-owned companies since June 1, sparking expectations of increased supply. Analysts forecast June exports may recover as falling prices encourage importers to restock.

Indonesia Mandates Halal Certification for Cosmetics from October

Indonesia will enforce mandatory halal certification for cosmetics starting October 17, 2026. BPJPH has released a draft halal assurance system requiring companies to appoint halal supervisors, ban porcine-derived ingredients, and maintain independent production lines. Concurrently, BPOM has seized over 2.08 million illegal cosmetic products (worth approximately 27.6 billion IDR), many entering e-commerce platforms through unregulated Chinese channels. Offenders face up to 12 years imprisonment or fines of 5 billion IDR. Cross-border sellers must urgently review formulations and supply chain traceability to meet certification and registration compliance.

Indonesia Mandates License Requirement for E-commerce Sellers

Indonesia's new Trade Minister Regulation No. 19/2026 requires e-commerce platforms to reject sellers without business licenses or NIB (Business Identification Numbers). Existing unlicensed sellers have a 6-month transition period, after which platforms must terminate their transaction permissions. The regulation clarifies platforms' responsibility for verification and removal, filling previous enforcement gaps. Cross-border sellers without local entity registration must obtain Indonesian licenses or partner with compliant local businesses to avoid removal from major platforms.

Malaysia Chip Exports Projected to Exceed $197 Billion in 2026

Malaysia's electrical and electronics product exports are on track to surpass 800 billion ringgit ($197 billion) in 2026, driven by sustained semiconductor demand and strong production performance, the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association announced Tuesday. Semiconductors account for approximately 65% of total exports. Association President Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai noted growth momentum will continue, with this year's exports potentially setting new records. In 2024, Malaysia's E&E exports reached 601 billion ringgit, rising to 711 billion ringgit in 2025.
